Sarah Barracuda…all teeth and no meat.

For the past week, we have been bombarded with “Sarah Barracuda”, a nickname Sarah Palin was given when she was a high school basketball player for a town smaller than an average ant hill. From my memory of game fishing in the Gulf, a barracuda was a trash fish you either cut up for bait or cut loose as a nuisance before you landed it. I remember the boat captain saying, “All teeth, no meat.” Well, then this moniker is probably well deserved.

Palin absolutely supported the bridge to nowhere before she was against it. She is on the record. Though she bills herself as a reformer, her tenure as mayor and governor points to a history of earmarks the size of which only Dumbo could relate.

Though Palin expounds upon a record of going up against big oil, the record shows a tight and personal relationship. Even her inauguration as Governor was sponsored by British Petroleum.

Palin runs on a platform of American values and rejects any kind of sex education in schools with the exception of abstinence only programs. From personal experience with her own family, she can see abstinence only programs, especially in a state with six months of night, don’t always work. She publicly assailed her daughter’s decision to keep her baby, and I have to agree…isn’t it nice to have the choice. As governor of Alaska, Palin line item vetoed funding that would provide assisted housing, education, and childcare for unwed teens who decide to keep their babies. Now, I would ask conservatives to deny the fact that the voted funds would have given these girls greater opportunity in making the choice to keep their babies. Guess they were just on their own.

Palin did in fact veto a bill that would have denied same-sex partner benefits for state employees. In fact, she said she likes the gays…even knows one or two. The record shows she vetoed the legislation with prejudice after her state legal team advised her that signing the bill would be unconstitutional and would not stand up to court scrutiny.

Yeah, she’s a barracuda alright. All teeth, no meat…and from what I read about Ann and Nancy Wilson’s cease and desist order, no Heart.
